Kyle Acheson

Kyle Acheson is a composer, lyricist, music director, and actor from Cincinnati, OH. He is a proud graduate of the Webster Conservatory of Theatre Arts (2012) and has had the good fortune to perform on many stages across the US. In 2014, he drove across the country with Sam De Roest, from the evergreen groves of Portland, OR to the broad, be-sooted blocks of Brooklyn. Most recently he has performed in and music directed Eversion (or that time my heart flew out of my mouth) at ANT Fest 2015 (Ars Nova), Molly Murphy & Neil deGrasse Tyson on Our Last Day on Earth (Playwrights Horizons, The Incubator Arts Project), and Root of the Rosebush (Dixon Place, The Cave).

Outside the city, Kyle trained under Polish avant-garde icon Rena Mirecka at Double-Edge Theatre in Ashfield, MA, devised radical political street theater with the San Francisco Mime Troupe, and co-wrote the semi-improvised musical sensation The Waterman: A Forgotten Cascadian Myth (Action/Adventure Theatre) in Portland, OR. Last year, he independently released his debut album, Sun River.  Listen at:

With Thicket & Thistle, Kyle explores new modes of writing, developing, and staging musical theatre. His aim is to continually interpret this wonderful American art form in the context of the new century. With witty, spry, and thoughtful music, stories that engage and entertain audiences, and performances that ignite the heart, we set the stage for a growing community of theatergoers.
